We’ve been working hard over the past couple of years to build both the equipment and the skills needed to get our young people out on the water safely.

So it was a great moment to finally take our Woodland Beaver Colony and Raleigh Scout Troop onto the River Great Ouse for an evening of paddling and, as you’d expect, a bit of messing about on the water.

Conditions were perfect and it turned into a brilliant evening. We paddled up and down the river from Great Barford, with plenty of smiles, growing confidence and a real sense of achievement by the end. It was especially nice to hear Beavers heading home telling their parents just how much they’d enjoyed it.

It’s something we’re looking forward to doing much more of with our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts over the coming years. You can see some of the photos from the evening below (click on an yimage for a larer gallery).
